I have always steered clear of weddings. But when Mitzu and I had our consultation call, I fell in love with their story and family and I knew almost immediately this was something I wanted to do. I listened to her speak about her husband and their little one, she wanted a simple celebration of their love and family with only their closest loved ones. She simply wanted to document her family being together. She told me about the location, one of my favorite places. I can't deny a call to the coast.
You couldn't have asked for a more perfect day, clear blue sky, a slight breeze. I walked up the stairs to the cutest house, and I could hear chatter and laughter on the other side of the door. I was welcomed in, a few people sitting at the table looking at photos, some in the kitchen buzzing around. I was introduced to the family, and immediately felt at ease. Eventually we made are way up the hill on the property, to a grove of trees with the view of the beach in the background.
I was not prepared for the overwhelming love that poured out through the ceremony. I took everything in me to hide my sniffles and tears as the bride and groom talked of their life, love, and promises. I fell in love with their love.
I always feel so lucky and grateful for being trusted and allowed into the intimacy of people's lives. To be there, to witness, to document, is absolutely the greatest gift that I get from doing this job.
